We get as many hits for people Googling "Wyatt Earp" as you might expect, but we also do very well on "no sideburns."

Anyway ... actually, you know what, eff Deadpool as a character, even. He hasn't got anything going for him really, it was all Joe Kelly.

I mean, he got the book and he did the cliche thing you have to do when a supervillain becomes popular enough to get his own book - "I must redeem myself and become a hero."

That's nothing special, but Kelly's great idea, and the whole reason the thing actually works, is because redemption isn't a straight line in the book. Most villains-turned-heroes (the Sandman or whatever) make the transition pretty easily, but Deadpool screws up CONSTANTLY, which is probably more "realistic" for a guy who's spent the last however many years as a former-Canadian-super-soldier-turned assassin.

He'd do pretty well for awhile, and then he'd have a bad day and get screwed up by one of his enemies, and he's like, "You know what, I give up, this is too hard." It's not like Deadpool has any marketable skills other than killin' fools.

Also, the conceptual high point of the series, outside of the one where he accidentally goes back in time and takes Spider-Man's place in an old Lee-Romita story, is one of the issues guest-stars Bullseye, but not as an antagonist. They're FRIENDS.Justinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16490957677766912068noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5414785286921467267.post-33775847515899128842010-02-19T09:23:51.431-06:002010-02-19T09:23:51.431-06:00I love how you had to link to yesterday's post...I love how you had to link to yesterday's post. Also, fuck Deadpool. Not the character, but his current abuse by marvel comics. I'm on your bandwagon. But I do love the movie the Dead Pool. Thankfully it is in no way related to the character Deadpool.Joshhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04140996920838605221noreply@blogger.com
